Join MLLS at the Boys & Girls Club Teen Court Luncheon
Thursday, October 17, noon - 1:00 pm
Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties, 1395 Summer Street NE, Salem OR 97301

Help MLLS support the Boys and Girls Club of Salem’s efforts to
continue its administration of the Teen Court program for youth offenders.
Although Teem Court was historically funded by the City of Salem, the city made
a very difficult decision a number of years ago to cut funding in the face of
budget shortfalls. Understanding the importance of the program, the Boys and
Girls Club of Salem stepped in. Boys and Girls Club now continues to run Teen
Court while providing opportunities for youth offenders to join positive
activities at the club. This annual attorney luncheon helps to provide a
consistent funding source for Teen Court and MLLS strongly encourages our
members to attend.

Although the luncheon is free, attendees are asked to make a
generous contribution to the Boys and Girls Club Teen Court program. Please join
MLLS in helping to make the luncheon a success by registering today!

RSVP to sit at the MLLS table by emailing us at maryleonardlawsociety@gmail.com.

Volunteer to be a Willamette Law student mentor!

9/12/2013

Willamette University College of Law is in great need of attorney mentors for this year's mentor program. Originally started by MLLS, Willamette's attorney-student mentoring program is now the largest in the state, pairing first-year students with approximately 150 lawyers and judges who will serve as mentors throughout the students' three years at the College of Law. This year, as many as 50 students are still waiting to be paired with mentors. The time commitment is only about one hour a month. The goal of the program is to help students transition into the legal profession. This could be by helping them understand the practice of law outside the classroom, learning the importance of developing
a professional community or just adjusting to law school.

We highly encourage anyone who can spare the minimal time committment to volunteer for this successful and important program. Volunteers can fill out the form at: http://www.willamette.edu/wucl/careers/mentor/mentor_form/ The Attorney-Student Mentor Program Kick-off Reception on Wednesday, September 18, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. If you can't make the reception, don't worry, you can still be a mentor!

If you have questions, please contact the Willamette Placement Office at law-career@willamette.edu or (503)
