The Fusion between Substantial Evidence and Substantial Reason
Oregon Women Lawyers (OWLS) Mary Leonard Chapter and the State of Oregon Law Library welcome the Honorable James C. Egan of the Oregon Court of Appeals.  Chief Judge Egan will discuss the fusion – or potential conflation – between the frequently-applied concepts of substantial evidence and substantial reason in the review of agency decisions, and how recent case law in administrative law affect changes in the landscape in civil and criminal cases as well.

The Honorable James C. Egan was elected to the Court of Appeals in 2012 and became Chief Judge in 2018. Before joining the Court of Appeals, he served as a circuit court judge in Linn County where he presided over many civil and criminal trials. He also served as the chief judge in the juvenile court, probate court, and civil court in Linn County.

When:  Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. (Feel free to bring lunches and covered drinks.)

Where:  State of Oregon Law Library, Oregon Supreme Court Building, 2nd floor, 1163 State St, Salem, OR 97301
