2021 Race Judicata: A virtual fun run for CourtCare!
Between June 13-27, 2021, Oregon Women Lawyers Mary Leonard Chapter and community sponsors will present Race Judicata, a Virtual Fun Run for CourtCare, a family-friendly event benefiting Marion County CourtCare and Polk County CourtCare. This year’s event will be held virtually and will include a fun run and exciting raffle prizes.
CourtCare is a charitable organization that provides FREE, quality childcare in safe, licensed locations for children whose parents or guardians have court related business in Marion or Polk counties. Established in 2017, CourtCare safeguards children from witnessing potentially tense and disturbing court proceedings. It also permits caregivers to focus on their court-related business and reduces disruptions in the courtroom. While CourtCare is dedicated to protecting children from the stress of legal proceedings, they can’t do it alone. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Polk County CourtCare had been able to continue providing services, but Marion County CourtCare had to close their doors in July 2019 due to a lack of continued funding and the demolition of the YMCA facility that housed the program. The current pandemic has placed many restrictions on childcare and CourtCare in Polk County had to temporarily close their doors as well. With your help, we can bring back these vital services to Marion and Polk Counties in the near future.
Race Judicata is a great way to enjoy our Salem community and support a great cause. This event aims to raise between $10,000 and $20,000 for CourtCare, so we definitely need your help!
